Failure | Exam Week

i want to be able to succeed in life without having to succeed in school

why is school so important when all it does is make people sad, it is proven that intelligent people are more likely to commit suicide and be depressed so why is being intelligent the only way to get through life when it could end your life. intelligence is important yes but is it more important than a persons overall well being and is it so important that makes people mentally sick. i think the main problem with the whole education system is that you are made feel so stupid and that's suppose to some kind of motivation for us to be better but shit feeling stupid just sucks. with that mentality that you're completely stupid just comes an inevitable fear that you're a complete failure but you're not. just because you don't understand a fucking chemistry theory or calculus does not make you stupid, but if you do go you. a persons value shouldn't be based of this shit just like a persons attractiveness shouldn't. the way i see it is that these things are all assets to you, your attractiveness, your intelligence, your athleticism whatever they're all just assets to you they aren't you. because we are so much more than all this, yet this is how we are rated by society. people should be seen through their inner self, their secrets, their pasts, their desires whatever because there is where a persons true meaning is, in their experiences and in them not what they can and cant do. but i guess we just don't value that kind of hippie shit, we value test results until we're through school and then we value office blocks with suicide plaques until we die because that is the life that will let us 'succeed' in life. but seriously how is that even succeeding?

p.s i think intelligent people are more likely to commit suicide because they know too much, they're full of so much empty knowledge that'll get them through 'life' but not through real life, the life where you feel and nothing can be fixed through adding another drop of sulfuric acid or re calculating.

22nd of May 2014 | Emotionally Unprepared for Life

Three sick days this week but an ache lingers. Up until now I thought I truly was sick, but now all I feel is emotional exhaustion and fear. I’m drained from a life were all living and days like today I wonder if this even is living. I don’t know if today I’m a little sad or if this is just another existential crisis but I have no idea why I am here. I don’t understand life and I don’t understand living and I don’t even know how you’re suppose understand it, yet on the surface we all do think we understand it. But isn’t it just a matter of perception? A scientist would find his meaning of life through fact collecting the inner workings of human life or atmosphere in a quest to understand something; a writer would write the world and create them with things that their world inspired them. I don’t even really understand what I’m trying to say or trying to understand or even if I want to. But on a day like this when the trees outside my window are still and all my friends are at school and I’m sitting alone trying to be interesting and justifying why it was ok for me to ditch school today. I just wonder if were seriously doing it all right, the way were all going and the paths that are being laid out for us. What if education isn’t everything? What if understanding calculus wasn’t actually that important, (and I’m not just saying that because math is horrifying) but seriously what if lawyers and doctors and freaking sales assistants weren’t even important. What if the human race could survive without money and be rich purely in love. We would never know because we’ve never tried. As humans we value competition and greed above the importance of living, really living and being inspired and loving and being loved. Those are things I think are most important and what makes humans human, we don’t feel fully with a good bank statement or job description and I think we all know it yet we preach the importance of it anyway because it’s easy and keeps us guarded from actually feeling anything. And isn’t that our job, to feel. So maybe the meaning of life isn’t in actual life itself because that would be shallow and were all merely players in life’s mind fucks so what if the meaning of life was really just how we feel and our emotions and love. Well that’s why cheesy craply written theory anyway.

Miley | Slut Shaming | Feminism

"I’ve got the same heart I did five years ago, everything about me is the same: same skin, same human" - Miley Cyrus
The Miley Movement is here, and she's taking over. Miley Cyrus is no longer the sweet-Disney-country girl. She's finally herself and she's kicking ass in every aspect of her life. While she's not particularly popular lately for her 'indecent exposure' and 'bad influence'. I just couldn't disagree more with these opinions. For once a star is finally enjoying stepping out, being herself without worrying about image or bad press. Miley has started a movement and it's about time we all stopped being so conservative and judgmental and just joined her. I mean let's be honest she looks pretty free and isn't that what we all want? Some freedom within ourselves, freedom from other peoples opinions and freedom from this image obsessed society.

I think Miley is just expressing herself and her sexuality and isn't that what music is all about? Isn't that what youth is all about? Finding yourself and expressing yourself? It's almost like everyone expected her to be 15 years old forever, but that's not the reality of growing up and who is society to control how someone grows and expresses themselves?
"My whole life it was never about having control. Shit would just come out with my face on it, and that was it. So now nothing can have my face on it, my name on it, that isn't dope -- that isn't a part of the movement."
I think a lot of people have forgotten that Miley Cyrus is not only her name, but her brand. She's a performer, entertainment is her job and wasn't her VMA and joint on stage stunt entertaining? Judging by the judgment she received she definitely did a good job. People are way to critical and small minded. It's like someone finally breaks out without being mentally unstable and it's the biggest scandal ever, does no one remember Britney Spears break out? There was just something so tragic and heartbreaking about it, but with Miley it's like shes just being herself, being young and inspiring more to do the same. What's so wrong with enjoying breaking out from unwritten societal rules? We all do it, why would she be so special that she doesn't get that freedom as well? Being famous doesn't stop you from growing it just limits how far you can grow and that isn't controlled by the celebrity themselves that's controlled by societal views and finally Miley Cyrus, someone with influence is starting a revolution against those views.

Societal expectations kill us all. I mean haven't you ever wanted to do something reckless but felt you couldn't because people would frown on that? Miley Cyrus has the whole world against her but still she keeps pushing against these expectations and also rid herself of her former persona. We all think we understand and think we could do better but the truth is how can we possibly think that without having gone through something similar. The upbringing Miley had is rare and impossible for an average person to understand. So why do we think we have the right to judge her?
"I'm not really scared or insecure about anything because I'm used to people judging me. I'm used to people knocking me down, so I'm used to getting back up."

Who are we to hold her childhood personality against her? I for one always wanted to be a child star or a princess when I was younger but judging by my personality right now, by the time I hit Miley's age I'd be doing the same thing.

Most of us wouldn't even be able to imagine having being told what to do and how to act all the time. We wouldn't know what it was like to have complete strangers controlling your being. We understand that on a certain level but nothing compared to how celebrities understand that.

Society is judging Miley Cyrus like she's some common whore that does sneaky lines in her spare time. When to be quite honest that is a cruel demeaning accusation against someone who is such an intelligent business-woman, which Miley is. No one is looking beyond the surface of Miley. People hate her for having tattoos when really one of those tattoos is a quote from one of Teddy Roosevelt's speeches. The speech talks about the difference between those who attempt to do things – and sometimes end up failing, and those who stand on the sidelines and criticize. It would seem that the tattoo is a reminder to Miley to live her life without fear of failure or criticism. The tattoo reads...
so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”

Doesn't this just show first hand how judgmental society is towards not only Miley but tattoos also? We look at her and see tattoos and automatically brand her 'disturbed' just for expressing herself using tattoos.
"People got a rise out of me saying that I was a feminist, but I am. I’m telling women, 'Be whoever you want to be.'"
Miley has not only started a revolution on image and expectations but she's also started a feminist uproar. How can we as woman or even humans hate someone who is blatantly telling us to be whoever we want to be. In what way is that considered a bad influence?

Woman have always been afraid of the term 'feminist' and think that feminism isn't relevant in modern day society but by the way we have treated Miley I'd say it's still relevant. Miley has been abused for her 'racy' 'provocative' sexual performances since the VMA's and I think it's an important example for why we need feminism and also why we shouldn't be throwing hate at Miley for it.

"No one is talking about the man behind the ass. It was a lot of 'Miley twerks on Robin Thicke,' but never, 'Robin Thicke grinds up on Miley.'They're only talking about the one that bent over. So, obviously there's a double standard."

Miley is right, the proofs right in front of you. Robin Thicke was hated on for a lot of things including his disgusting song "Blurred Lines" but never was anything negative said about him concerning this performance. It was Miley that copped it all for this, but it's right there the 'sexual content' as some put it, it was clearly an act from both parties. So why is it okay for Robin Thicke to grind against a girl half his age but it's not okay for Miley to twerk on him? This is where the double standard is in modern society, in sexual expression.

Feminism has fought for equality in all areas and we've come a long way so why can't we push that little bit further and make it okay for us as woman to express our sexuality without being slut shamed. Worst of all were not even being slut shamed by men, were being slut shamed by other woman. We are literally slut shaming each other and that's not okay. How can we expect men to treat us with respect when we don't even respect each other? The hate Miley received after the VMA performance is a prime example of this. These are real quotes made by woman against Miley, why do we think that is okay?

“Just saw a couple performances from the VMAs last night, 2 words…#pitchystrippers,”

“She can’t dance, her body looked like hell, the song wasn’t great, one cheek was hanging out. And,chick, don’t stick out your tongue if it’s coated.”

“If a performing artist has an audience of impressionable young fans and they want to present a soft porn video or highly sexualized live performance, then it needs to qualify as such and be rated for adults only,”

Why have we made this rule that it's no okay for woman to be sexually provocative? It is said that most woman aren't comfortable in their body until they're in their mid forties so why are we shaming Miley for being comfortable in hers now? If anything we should be following her lead and loving ourselves just as much.

So really we should all be loving and embracing this new life style Miley has set up for us. Do you want to be hiding in the shadows for the rest of your life to scared to break out of societal boundaries or do you want to accept Miley, accept yourself and accept that society is shitty at the moment and it needs to change. Also to all you closet feminists, it is okay to accept your beliefs, feminism isn't something you should be ashamed or scared of its something society should be ashamed of for not embracing and scared of because Miley is bringing it back to pop culture with a vengeance.

Awkward Intro's

I just made this blog, clearly.

Hi I'm Georgia Violet. I love reading, I pretty much constructively read at any opportunity. My reading obsession then lead to my writing one; I don't know if I'm good but there's something about making your own fantasies rather than reading other peoples. I am a teenage girl so rants have to included, I'm kind of passionate about random things like 'why people who don't put caps back on toothpaste are d-bags'  It's a little strange but I'm feeling good about it!

In my mind it's gonna be full of random stuff, including:
  • quotes, poems + snips of books
  • book reviews
  • random stories or pieces ive written
  • rants, probably a lot sorry
  • photo's
  • fashion-esque stuff
  • personal posts
I'm just gonna post anything and everything and if you read this i love you already!

P.s i feel kind of rad about this so, let the blogging begin!
